I just can't wrap my head around the time saving thing. Do your coworkers really understand what it is that they are putting into the codebase? If not, that's terrifying and recipe for disaster. If they do understand it, they have to be taking the time to review it to ensure is right. Which cannot save so much more time that it's worth the risk.
