The key quote:
> [Wozniak] was overjoyed when he learned that the skill that put so much effort into suddenly became massively easier. He wasn't worried about not being able to earn an above-average salary from this anymore, he was happy about all the new cool things he and everyone else would be able to build.

- slowmovintarget 4y agoIf you want to get paid to get things done, having your skills obsoleted is concerning.
- jcutrell 4y agoThis is true, but it also ignores the economic reality: your employer wants to get things done, but money is their constraint more than time. If they can replace you, they are obligated to do so. This is a nice idea, but in economic reality, you won’t be getting anything done if your boss lets you go.
- meghan_rain 4y ago"Boss" always means "somebody like me from the same industry that is just more entrepreneurial and risk-accepting than me, who prefers a safe job". Become a boss, literally. Yes, I know, some industries are entrenched with old interests and gatekeeping. Then don't become a boss at building gas stations or housing or whatever. There are new, far more lucrative opportunities coming up.
