Tangential, but do you think AI ethics researchers/leaders should have some relevant background in AI or at least engineering? I was thinking about it recently myself and first reaction is that they should but at the same time does it mean that we are going to tackle the problem from a wrong angle? One pattern I’m seeing now is that many people are jumping into “AI ethics” train without basis understanding. And ideas they are sharing are so abstract that I would argue that they don’t make any sense.
