The term refers to a black person. The word is "cowboy" due to slavery when all black men were called "boys" like they were on the plantations. For example, "n***** boy". So the history of "African-American Cowboys" cannot be "lesser known" unless the word's meaning has been rewritten.
- giraffe_lady 4y agoWell actuallyed so hard you missed the point entirely I think. If people don't know that original use then it is indeed less known.
- b112 4y agoIt's made up gibberish. By no means did cowboy originate, as a term, referring to slaves.
- switchupcb 4y agoThat's one way to interpret what I'm saying. Otherwise, the story is technically supposed to be titled, "The Lesser-Known History of Cowboys". It also doesn't discuss the origin of the word.
