I think the design is a smart move. They're getting parity on design with it while differentiating via the technology. A more distinctive car would be more of a risk that the market doesn't like it or it becomes dated too quickly, especially given that it's aimed more mainstream than the Sportster. Besides, looking similar to the marques you mentioned is excellent for a first attempt at a design. If you're going to take one shot at it that really has to work first time, that's pretty good company.
