It's not worth your time to use grub if you run zfs... the zfs module in grub only supports the ancient feature flag set from Solaris 9/10, its a miracle that it even works on Linux at all... It also doesn't help that grub is spearheaded by Oracle employees, and as such, they couldn't give a rats ass about maintaining the module. (And if they do, it'll be to add more Oracle Solaris features rather than zfs on linux/bsd/illumos)
