Ubuntu semi-annual release? I only upgrade every 2 years when the new LTS comes out. Disabling snap is a small pain but other than that, no issues.

- troymc 4y agoUbuntu has a release every April (e.g. 22.04) and every October (e.g. 22.10), but I do the same as you, only upgrading when there's a new LTS version. Snap and Flatpak are two different things.
- avhception 4y agoWith LXD, Chromium and now Firefox now gated behind Snap, the only way to disable Snap for good is voting with my feet and using another distro.
- pmontra 4y agoThat's why I moved to Debian 11 at end of 2022.
- midoridensha 4y agoThere are PPD alternatives for those (at least Firefox, I haven't tried the others). But yeah, it's starting to look like it's time to think about jumping ship to something else entirely. I'm thinking Manjaro; I want a distro that's serious about KDE (currently using Kubuntu) and there aren't many of those these days.
- Snacklive 4y agoIf you end up Manjaro do yourself a favor and change into the unstable branch. Their model of updates in the stable branch sometimes breaks stuff
