This is good news for just about everyone. I just finished reading A Collective Bargain: Unions, Organizing, and the Fight for Democracy by Jane F. McAlevey. The book was specifically looking at unions, and it sounds like the employees that were laid off in the case the article is referring to [1] were part of a union - they may have had a harder time fighting this if they hadn't been. Part of what the book was arguing was that unions are good for democracy, and this example seems to back that point up.
