Hopefully this does end up happening. One of the reasons I personally don’t mind Apple’s 30% IAP take is because going through Apple guarantees I won’t need to deal with any dark patterns—cancelling is one or two clicks in the settings app, I get email notifications a few days before each billing cycle happens, and if something does go wrong then Apple’s customer support is generally very helpful. 30% is a big price increase, but the peace of mind is wonderful. I’ve been burned a lot of times in the past by businesses that make it extremely hard to cancel, and cracking down on this kind of behavior seems like a no brainer to me personally.
