Microcorruption Writeup
- spatters 4y agomicrocorruption is great. I originally signed up in 2015 and completely bounced off the first level after the tutorial. I worked through the levels on and off after that, most progress made during a ski trip where I injured my knee badly enough to prevent actually skiing. Judging by notes I made it as far as the penultimate level of the original set in 2018 and got stuck there, it's a shame the new site doesn't show your submission dates, which I think the old one did. Although my progress was ridiculously slow, am quite proud that I just sat with the problems when stuck without looking up the solution. Maybe this year I will actually finish it.
- mdaniel 4y agoI was sad that Starfighter/Stockfighter didn't make it out to the general public, or that its code wasn't set free when it folded. It sounded really neat
- kramerger 4y agoOnce you get to the higher levels the web interface really slows you down. I wish there were embedded system CTFs that you could run locally.
- Graziano_M 4y agoTheir interface had some mistakes, which you had to take into account to solve some levels, but people make MSP430 emulators that emulated those specific bugs so that you could solve the solutions offline.
- kramerger 4y agoHad not heard of that before, very interesting. Do you have any links?
- Graziano_M 4y agoHere is a sample emulator that emulates the bugs. https://github.com/cemeyer/msp430-emu-uctf https://github.com/cemeyer/msp430-emu-uctf I also mention it in my own blog post about microcorruption, which I posted today, inspired by this post.
