I guess I wouldn't go offroading in an $85,000 car if the service center is hundreds of miles away and I wasn't ready to pay the towing fee?

  Maybe, but this had very little to do with offroading. This was a software flaw that sounds like it could occur if you got stuck on a snow covered road and needed to be pulled out (if you weren't buckled in and were rocking the car ro get unstuck). Basically logic around the seat belt switch. In any case, I wouldn't want an $85k vehicle. I would prefer a cheaper vehicle with fewer features, including the omission of this seat belt logic.
