From 2021-2022, Alexa experienced record numbers of security breaches and PHI/PII data leaks (including Amazon CARE, subscriptions and payments data). Did Amazon know? Yes. It was escalated to SmartHome team, Privacy and Security teams, and Senior leadership groups on multiple occasions. What happened? They covered it up with fake data and forced data deletions. Guess who got fired? Hint: It wasn't the persons who caused the repeated data leaks. At least not until March of 2023 apparently, well after the years-long impact occurred.
