I'd like to see these open sourced, for the tech to speed up, and bring technological advancement faster, however -- the "open source" = "safety" argument is hogwash, if every potential bad virus were open source, it'd just give bad actors 'sample' code to use to manufacturer worse worms/viruses for the web. Bad actors definitely AREN'T going to open source their work. Only the research (good) companies/entities would.
