Sfbook.com: Providing book reviews of speculative fiction since 1999
- pyuser583 4y agoThank you for the shout out!
- kinix 4y agoAssuming you're involved in the site: more than welcome! It's my favourite resource for finding books to read!
- sfbook 4y agoHey there. It's my site but I haven't had time to do anything with it for a long time Hoping to find sometime the next few months though. Always appreciate any (constructive) feedback or suggestions on what users would like to see :)
- kinix 4y agoCount this as a big +1 for an RSS feed, would remind me to check in more often. Silly-small ux items that are very much nice-to-haves: - Another +1 for allowing titles/authors to be copy-able - I often find myself hunting for the book to buy from somewhere based on the reviews or searching more from the author - Increase the time for the book cover fade-outs, I've several times I've been interested in a cover but been too slow with the mouse/trackpad. In general tho: the site is awesome from a clarity/readability point of view, it's ad-free and the content is excellent. You're nailing the important stuff IMO
- sfbook 3y agoThe fade-out, yeah that's a good shout, I set it to a random time but could probably do with increasing the minimum! I'll get the RSS feed working soon as I get some spare time absolutely, and look at copy for the lists etc.
- sfbook 4y agoAlso, thank you. It is much appreciated:)
- kinix 4y agoMore than welcome! I've been checking in on the site from time-to-time to get ideas for books to read for probably more than a decade now so the appreciation is all mine!
- sfbook 4y agoShout out? You involved in SFBook.com?

- Agrue8u 4y agoLooks interesting, but no Rss feed so I will have a hard time remembering to come back.
- sfbook 4y agoYeah, apologies I keep meaning to add an RSS feed back in, it's on my to-do list!
- xtiansimon 4y agoI visited the site to look for something to read. Started by reading a review of something I just finished. Then I looked for a jump from there to something similar. No similar book recommendations. That’s Ok. Then, I found a list of award winning books. Some items don’t have links (presumably not reviewed). Ok. But I can’t highlight/copy any text from the list, nor can I use page reader view (although the site looks very clean and readable already) to even see the text and copy it. I don’t mind the site not recommending, but to have a simple list of books where you can’t select the text is not a good UX on mobile.
- sfbook 4y agoI can understand that. The text selection was just changed due to the sheer volume of people copying whole articles and passing them off as their own. I also know you can just view the source and copy so there isn't really a foolproof way to prevent. Maybe if I made the lists copyable and also had an icon to copy to clipboard, would that help?
