Most trans adults say transitioning made them more satisfied with their lives
- jfengel 4y agoThat jibes with my personal experience. All of my trans friends are very pleased with their transition. I'm not sure it's possible for me, as a straight cis man, to truly understand their experience. I can't imagine what it would be like to believe that I were anything other than what my body indicates. I could more easily understand abolishing gender. But it's overwhelmingly clear that my trans friends understand themselves as the gender they live. They're obviously more comfortable and happier that way. I'm sure it doesn't work for everybody. Just being trans sets you up for a lot of societal rejection, especially if you don't easily "pass". And transitioning won't fix all of your problems; I imagine some people expect too much of their transition and are unhappy that it doesn't fix everything. But for the people I know -- quite a few, at this point -- it has always made their lives better.
