From the YT video I heard the HDMI board can do CEC? I’d really like this product to be able to control my TVs from USB. I could also see DDC control for computer monitors.
HDMI CEC over USB adapters are $40. So I’m hoping this is cheaper.
It would be cool if the board came with HDMI male config.
- alin23 4y agoToo bad it doesn't have Wi-Fi. Back when Apple Silicon appeared and DDC wasn't working anymore with the old methods [0] I tried creating a DDC-over-WiFi board using ESP32 + spliced HDMI cable with the I²C wires connected for Lunar (https://lunar.fyi/ https://lunar.fyi/). I was using the ddcvcp library [1] and it was working well for monitors that allowed DDC on ports without a video signal (not all do), but the cable splicing part wasn't too appetizing for users. In the end I settled on a Raspberry Pi solution [2] until I sorted out how DDC could be used from Apple Silicon directly. But this idea is still on my mind, and this board almost meets all my requirements to finally make it easy to use. Hoping for WiFi + HDMI soon. - mdmglr 4y agoThanks for the links. I’m currently using monitor control but I’d like to be able to adjust brightness and other things from my Stream Deck (which has essentially replaced MacOS dock). So lunar was the only solution that offered a CLI.
