Highway inevitability is a fallacy. They could've built a railway.
- koheripbal 4y agoA railway would have created a gov't/corporate monopoly on human transport. Highways democratized the freedom of transportation.

- parineum 4y agoIn no way did highways restrict movement. They may have not given everyone the exact same freedom of movement but it did, in fact, increase the freedom of movement of the populaces as a whole.
- inigoalonso 4y agoMy experience in the States, staying at a hotel 100m away from a restaurant and not being able to reach it by foot, says otherwise...
