Cut Cloud Before Payroll
- zer00eyz 4y agoI have done declouding. I have been preaching not to lock in for years. If your need is a number (as in money) for next month or quarter the reality is that servers, no matter how expensive or miss used run your business, people should be growing it. I also survived the bubble. I'll be candid, a lot of people got laid off, many left the Bay Area. The folks that were left were survivors. They were willing to work hard because they loved what they did! Not only were they passionate they were smart (mostly). If you aren't passionate about what you do, if you don't love it, you might be out on the street. Your boss is gonna sit down with a spread sheet with a list of names, and a number beside each (your salary). They are going to have to find a number that has a lot of zeros on the end of it (million or more) The person who stayed late, did more, who brought solutions, do you think they are going to get cut? If your product isn't making money do you know what is going to happen? Your whole department might get the axe. If your bosses boss (etc) knows your name you might get spared! If you are passionate, and jobless then I highly recommend spending one or two days a week doing side work, or developing your own app. Any income is going to be better than none when your unemployment runs out.
