ChatGPT:
Right to repair laws could burden businesses with regulations and compliance requirements, hindering innovation and economic growth.
Companies may be forced to disclose sensitive information about their products, leading to intellectual property theft and reduced competitiveness in the marketplace.
Unauthorized repairs pose a risk to consumer safety, and manufacturers may be held liable for any damage or injuries caused.
Manufacturers already provide ample opportunities for repair, including warranties and authorized repair services.
Right to repair laws could create unnecessary competition for these services, ultimately harming small businesses and reducing the quality of products in order to maintain profitability.
The market should be allowed to operate freely without government intervention, and there may be more effective solutions to ensure consumers have access to safe and reliable repair options
- wobbly_bush 4y agoThis brings an interesting question - will the various chatbot products bias towards the owning companies lobbying efforts (parroting their lobbying points)?
- dragonwriter 4y agoNot too obviously until they have the penetration that they feel that they can get away with exerting power that way without it being curtailed.
- CommanderData 4y agoIf there's enough SEO garbage commissioned by lobbyist, Yes.
- wobbly_bush 4y agoThat assumes the chatbot creators don't introduce explicit bias of their own. What if they start doing that? For example a search for nutritional information about some foods might be influenced by fast-food companies buying "ads" to insert their own messaging.
- scotty79 4y ago> The market should be allowed to operate freely without government intervention I'm all for it. For example why should government intervene and enforce copyright or patents?
- stodor89 4y agoI'm so stealing that comeback.
