Microsoft launches Loop, its Notion competitor
- lockhouse 4y agoI’m really excited about this. It reminds me of OLE on Windows, where you could embed “objects” from one application into documents from another, except now it is cross platform and looks less clunky.
- pjmlp 4y agoNo need for the past tense, embedding is still pretty common. As for the idea of having this on the Web, see Dan Ingalls (from Smalltalk fame) Lively Kernel, https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gGw09RZjQf8 https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gGw09RZjQf8
- esel2k 4y agoWhy was there no word about sharepoint? The true reason is that sharepoint - I mean the sites not the storage (ok the links that can‘t be changed) - is really bad. I don’t know a single person that likes sharepoint sites. We use notion for most of out information sharing and guidelines, faq and minutes. I wonder why the article didn’t mention it would replace all sharepoint sites in the future.
- CharlesW 4y ago> The true reason is that sharepoint - I mean the sites not the storage (ok the links that can‘t be changed) - is really bad. I can understand why the typical HN reader would call SharePoint “bad”, but it’s honestly fine. In my experience it’s certainly no worse than, say, Confluence. (BTW, the trick for links that don’t change is to link to Document IDs. It’s pretty easy to learn how to enable them, and to create site collections.) > I wonder why the article didn’t mention it would replace all sharepoint sites in the future. Because it’s a “collaboration space” rather than a “publishing space”, my guess is that it’ll eventually replace Teams rather than SharePoint.
- cybrexalpha 4y ago> […] it’s certainly no worse than, say, Confluence. I don't think this is a great comparison, when Confluence is one of the worst tools I've ever had the displeasure of touching.
- IceWreck 4y agoDon't they already have onenote ?
- shostack 4y agoIf you read it, this is more about competing with Asana than it is with OneNote.
- dkgs1998 4y agoSuddenly with the upcoming launch of copilot, Microsoft apps became interesting... Definitely would have not imagined me getting excited about MSFT apps a few years ago.
- zvonimirs 4y ago100% - I felt so weird downloading Edge so I can use Bing - still not sure how I feel about it :/
- resoluteteeth 4y agoKind of lame that this only integrates with outlook/teams and not other office products
- Ecstatify 4y agoI used the fluid preview before it closed and it was pretty nice.
