I admit that I'm anxious about the possibility that AI will drive down demand for developer jobs. My base case is that it won't have a meaningful negative impact, but it's possible that it will, so it's unpleasant to have this uncertainty about the future and to see the technology develop very rapidly with big news coming almost every day - which I would be normally extatic about. I've been on a path to financial independence (= saving and investing) but still need ~9 years to be able to safely retire. I slightly envy people with US-based FAANG jobs, where achieving financial independence seems like a breeze. This also adds fuel to my desire to start a side project. What are your thought on this? Are you preparing in any way financially?
