- throwayyy479087 4y agoThis is the real reason for the push to ban TikTok. Economic protectionism for favored industries, particularly when those industries are the largest donors to the current party in power.
- mistermann 4y agoI suspect TikTok being the most potent medium for propaganda also plays more than a little role. The ability for a clever civilian to post a video (this is key) stitch of US officials projecting propaganda and then skilfully and completely deconstucting it is dangerous. It could undo decades of hard work.
- wharfjumper 4y agoWhy is TikTok unique in that regard?
- mistermann 4y agoI would say: the bandwidth and high dimensionality of video, combined with the algorithm, blasting subversive ideas into people's minds... And many of these ideas are not just undoing the ones written by the government, but overriding them with opposite, much more accurate ones. If I was running an illusory regime, I would take them out too.
- flappyeagle 4y agoOh please. China bans every American social media platform. At worst you can say this is evening the odds a bit.
- omniglottal 4y agoThe odds of international socioeconomic sabotage and deep-state control superceding the electorate are not ones we, the people, want evened.
