I'm just so sad we have such middling gate-keeped bullshit in our pockets. The phones are abundant wonders in our pockets... I’m so glad to hear somebody else say this. It seems like every time I’ve brought up the crushing sadness I feel at these amazing computers we carry around in our pockets being locked-down and unusable for general purpose computing I get shouted down with “They’re not computers! They’re phones!” I’m resigned to the personal, portable, general purpose computing platform that I dreamt about as a kid in the 90s never existing, even though the technology to make it possible exists.
