In other words, the author wants a tool (actually a group of people) to which they can delegate the content filtering. Which is... understandable, as the amount of info noise isn't going to go down. I imagine he's aware of the downsides as well.
With the current LLM advancements, a smart filter for the info noise could be built. Sure, it would a bubble just like recommendation systems, but at least it's tweaked by you, and not created by someone else. (in theory, in practice it will be a black box SaaS)
- ghayes 4y agoI am really waiting for the day we can run LLM in the browser, since then you'll be able to perform these tasks without relying on a third-party to send content to. Imagine a smart email client that doesn't rely on your email server for spam filtering or bucketing.
- nine_k 4y agoI think this very site, like a few others, is a cooperative content filter, with some fun / informative / insightful comments added.
- Arrath 4y agoI agree. I also use a few specific threads on other forums where I know the posters generally post decent, informative subjects and otherwise shoot the shit.
