I recently flew back to the US from Argentina. After clearing customs in Houston, I went through the TSA line, where they confiscated my jar of dulce de leche.
Dulce de leche is thicker than peanut butter and the label on the jar listed the weight in grams, not milliliters. The jar was unopened and was in the bag sealed when I purchased it from duty free shop in the secure area of the Buenos Aires airport, with the receipt attached. The TSA agent attempted to justify this by saying, "these bags are meant for liquor," even though that's unquestionably a liquid and would have come from the exact same store.
It's ironic that for all of the warnings I read about pickpockets in Buenos Aires, I didn't get robbed until I got back to the US.
