While there are obviously multiple factors causing the current inflation, the war in Ukraine doesn't seem to get much attention as a major factor. One of the world's top suppliers of fertilizer has been crippled, and everything you buy at a grocery store has an indirect dependency on this. Russia withholding oil has reduced the worldwide supply of oil, affecting everything that needs to be transported. While I'm in overwhelming support of the US supporting Ukraine, I am surprised the US isn't doing more to broker a treaty of some sort purely in an effort to lower inflation.

Some things are more important than making as much money as possible, and democracy/self-determination is one of them. It's a terrible message to send if you say that democracy is important, unless you manage to hurt our economy then we'll support anything that gets us back to the status quo growth trajectory. I know that might be controversial and I'm certainly not suggesting that the US is consistent in it's application of these ideals, but at least today it's nice to see us not immediately roll over once there start being 2nd- and 3rd-order economic impacts.
