The issue is the lockdowns didn't ever need to continue after the initial 2 week phase. There was no consideration for anything other than we need to obliterate covid by all means necessary. Even when they were presented with data that contradicted the need for lockdowns they decided to double down with more restrictions. The initial 2 week response was understandable, everything after was not.
