Show HN: Create a back end/API service using ChatGPT
- senko 4y agoHello HN! Like many I am awestruck by the potential of GPT and other modern AI, including in improving developer productivity. I don't think they can be used standalone though - you still need a human in the loop, or at least a way to verify what's being generated. This project is an experimental attempt to merge the creativity of ChatGPT with traditional project scaffolding tools and (hopefully) get the best of both worlds. The user input is processed by the AI which extracts important information/structure for the project (data models, etc). This is then fed to the scaffolding engine which builds the project. This ensures that the project that gets build, is actually fully runnable code (ideally, that matches what you had in mind!) This is still using gpt3.5-turbo model. I'm playing with gpt4 and the increased token size (8k or 32k) is game-changing. I hope to be including use of gpt4 in the future as it opens some new possibilities. In testing so far, people have been impressed with what gets built. Yeah it's not a complete project in the "no-code" sense that you can just run as is, but it gets the ball rolling very quickly and people have been using it to brainstorm ideas for projects and seeing how that could be built.
- 4RealFreedom 4y agoI'm playing around with your tool now. I have one ask - could you add times to the Project list? I've created a few this morning and they are all called "AI-generated project" with today's date.
- senko 4y agoGood idea, thanks! I'll also see if I can get GPT to create a nice short name based on the description :) You can also edit the name after the fact if you select the project in the dashboard and then use the "Edit details" button (should be on the right).
