Convince the Fed to buy failed banks' loan assets at the exact price required to make depositors whole, but not a penny more. Shareholders and bondholders in those banks get hosed, but depositors at those banks (and more importantly, depositors at other banks) feel assured.
- chiefalchemist 4y agoThe problem is, those that are over the insured max *are* the shareholders and bondholders. The paycheck to paycheck people, the ones using check cashing services, etc. are not banking, but what about them? The point is, those over the insured limits have the means, brains, etc. to avoid the risk. Yet they decided not to do so. Why isn't capitalism and Uncle Sam willing to educate them (i.e., teach them a lesson)?
