I know several people who made the bad gamble not to take the vaccine and got actual measurable lung damage and had to be on oxygen. I also know people that caught it 3-4 times and had no symptoms past a week. Living in TX I'm surrounded by people at high risk for long covid, that's the bias in my anecdata, but I know zero people that have symptoms past a month that didn't have some sort of clearly evident lung damage. I believe long covid exists, but it's hard for me to believe it's anywhere near as common as news articles suggest.
