The problem is, it's not a very good "solution" because reblogs was also a useful feature in spreading certain kinds of information. In my opinion, Twitter was (and is) instrumental in effectively highlighting certain kinds of important, unrecognized, "news," e.g. police brutality. I'm glad Mastodon folk are considering effective ways to reintroduce it.
