I have a suggestion. Instead of trying to figure out what to build, why don't you start reading the source code of what others have built? For example, interested in blockchain and know some Golang? Why not start reading the Ethereum main repo source code and documentation? This is just an example to make a point, but you get the idea. Good luck :)
