Mod sorry telling Afghan interpreters to get Taliban's permission to come to UK
- lifeisstillgood 4y agoOk - I know this is not usual HN fodder but somehow there was someone in an organisation that managed to approve a new policy (let alone write it) that is just ... astoundingly dumb. It's not the UK armed forces are evil. But that somehow organisations can be without any person in the org doing so. This is just a jaw dropping example of emergent organisational behaviour - something we see everyday
- detaro 4y agoThat's an optimistic reading of it. The "nice" thing about organizational incompetence is also that it makes a good shield for people that did notice what they are currently doing and just choose not to act on it, or only in a superficial way. Sadly, many countries (non-)reactions to Afghanistan straddle that line.
- lifeisstillgood 4y agoThat is a fair comment
- jjgreen 4y agoThat should be MOD (the UK ministry of defence) of course, HN title correction does not always do the right thing ... (OP, if you edit that quickly enough, the edits stick).
