I discovered this when I upgraded bash shell to the latest version (5.0) with HomeBrew on my Mac machine. This in turn used the readline 8.0 library that had the bracketed paste feature enabled by default. I had to `set enable-bracketed-paste off` in my .inputrc to revert back to previous behavior.
