To me the film just made the Irish look like dumb and uncivilized drunkards.

- prepend 4y agoYes, and? I think that was part of the point. I don’t think that’s the totality of describing Irish, but as someone that has a bit of Irish heritage and interactions with Irish it’s a common characteristic. It’s a remote island right, and I think the history makes the more recent transformation more impressive and interesting.
- mgaunard 4y agoReinforcing negative stereotypes is not beneficial to the Irish minority in England.
- bunabhucan 4y agoI think celebrating independence from eight centuries of British rule by having a civil war did that for us.
