Engelbart/SRI mouse smashes record price for a computer mouse
- ggm 4y agoCue Indiana Jones: This should BE IN A MUSEUM The early mice were sometimes nice and sometimes not. People rave about the depraz, I found it clunky and very hard to adjust to. it was not a forgiving shape. The mouse on the lisa was in some ways designed for tiny hands. I never quite felt I was using a grown-up input device (the depraz on the other hand felt like it should be attached to missile command, the real one, not the game) Light pens were really nice because there was no disconnect between the hand movement and the thing being controlled: you pointed at it and the VBI interval and light sensing told the computer what x,y offset you were pointing at. With a mouse, you had to learn what musicians of all kinds learn early on: don't look at your hands, look at the music.
