Not at all sure how “you’re responsible for yourself” isn’t obvious, even if there are government and private charities to help. People are absolutely too used to “the government will save us” that they fail to do the barest minimum to start with. Perhaps (keeping in line with HN) this is just anathema to so many of us because you have to prepare for when, not if, that equipment fails?
