Wow Sun Just Produced a Carrington Like Event, but We Got Super Lucky
- animitronix 4y agoHello wonderful person!!
- andromaton 4y agoBefore parent gets downvoted: that's how this youtuber starts his videos.
- matthewdgreen 4y agoSince this is presented as a YouTube video, AKA the least-efficient mode of conveying information that human beings have ever devised, here is the TL;DR so others don’t have to read: A massive coronal mass ejection left the sun a couple of days ago, but the majority of the ejection went in the opposite direction from where the Earth is now. It crossed Earth’s orbit about 20 hours after it left the sun. A small fraction of it reached us anyway, and has been causing auroras for a few days. I would like to tell you more about what would have happened to us if it had hit square-on but I can’t be bothered to read deeper into that awful transcript.
- gumby 4y agoThank you for that IV;WW. Perhaps someone who actually cares about the topic will write a blog post.
- piyh 4y agoI should make a bot that downloads the captions and summarizes videos
- euroderf 4y ago> a YouTube video, AKA the least-efficient mode of conveying information that human beings have ever devised Amen to that; OTOH HN highlights the ruthless time-efficiency (and jump-around-a-bility) of text.
