KDE telemetry is strictly opt in. Some distro like openSUSE even disable it completely. We don't nage you into enabling them. KDE is a non profit, we won't sell any data and only wn handful of developer have access to the data. We have a clear process about how to introduce telemetry in an application.
We have a clear privacy policy https://kde.org/privacypolicy-apps/ https://kde.org/privacypolicy-apps/ and privacy is something we really care about. See for example initiative to develop kde itinerary to be able to track your travel in a privacy councious way or all the work on gpg/autocrypt in kmail wnd kleopatra.
- sprash 4y agoIt doesn't matter if it is "opt-in". The problem starts with "built-in". KDE and Qt is very huge and highly complex software. Telemetry can be enabled or disabled without my knowledge, one update away. The same is true for your policy which makes it worthless.
- dale_glass 4y agoWhat difference does that make, really? Software is easy enough to patch. If it wasn't built-in, it'd be easy enough to add. It'd also be one update away.
