Most people would select "US" in a dropdown menu if offered the chance. The windows driver could also pass the information to the firmware using geolocalization or the windows locale settings if what the firmware setting suggested by default seems awfully wrong (ex: CN regdomain while Windows locale = US, geo IP = US, GPS=US etc)
