Bank Failures in Brief – 2023
- camkego 4y agoThe FDIC chose a chart design that can display up to 25 bank failures per month (See 2020 for examples of how the Y axis is used for failures). Of course, too much shouldn't be read into this, but it's interesting they chose such a chart rather than a table listing failures.

- StringyBob 4y ago24 in one month for July 2009!
- nivertech 4y agoThere were 140 bank failures in 2009 in total! https://www.fdic.gov/bank/historical/bank/bfb2009.html https://www.fdic.gov/bank/historical/bank/bfb2009.html
- hbrav 4y agoThis chart is much more interesting, since you can see the total assets involved this year are close to that of the 2008 crisis: https://www.fdic.gov/bank/historical/bank/index.html https://www.fdic.gov/bank/historical/bank/index.html (Assuming I'm reading this correctly - please correct me if I'm misunderstanding the y-axis!)
