Spycraft: The Great Game, Part 2
- Waterluvian 4y agoOne of my favourite games as a kid. There was an entire… genre? of games like this. Especially on the Mac. Journeyman Project, Spaceship Warlock. All the Cyan games of course. HyperCard-likes I’m going to call them.
- pavlov 4y agoSpaceship Warlock! Thank you for reminding me of this title. Sometimes I think about it but couldn’t remember the name. It’s hard to explain today why it felt so advanced in 1991. The fact that it ran from CD on the expensive, exotic Macintosh II while other games were low-res and loaded from floppies on MS-DOS or Amiga was a big factor. Here’s a nice blog post about the game: https://tagn.wordpress.com/2012/09/10/remembering-spaceship-warlock/ https://tagn.wordpress.com/2012/09/10/remembering-spaceship-...
- Waterluvian 4y agoWow suggested price $95. I got it in this really cool shaped box that came with like 15 games. I’ll have to recall what it’s called. Something like the “Macintosh CD Game Pack” I remember it included Powermonger, Spectre VR, Power Poker, Labyrinth of Time, Populous 2, and many more.
- mu_killnine 4y agoWow, Journeyman project brings back memories. I got this game for Christmas and wasn’t really bright enough to get through the whole thing at 7 but it was a really interesting game that I’d forgotten about until now.
- Waterluvian 4y agoIt’s $10 on GOG!
- cdchn 4y ago>On balance, this may not have been such a bad thing; that game is so unfair and obtuse as to come off almost as a satire of player-hostile adventure-game design. Try playing Elden Ring sometime.
- heywoodlh 4y ago> Try playing Elden Ring sometime. It's not that hard after you spend at least 20 hours figuring out how to play it. /s
- dirtyid 4y agoBringing back a lot of memories, one of the few boxarts etched in my brain even though it's pretty ordinary in retrospect.
