Bus driver moment: As a young contractor I was told about an on premies lawn mower kept getting stolen. I asked if there was a telephone line down in that part of the buiding. Wrote them a vb6 app that monitored a magnetic door contact sensor on the LPT Printer port with a vb6 timer that looked for a state change and would send AT commands to the modem to call the on site manager if the door with the equipment was opened during a non standard time. Took a few minutes to do this in vb6 and clients were super happy.
