Basically he's not really changing much, going from one flavor of 'Unix' to another flavor of 'Unix'.
Overall, it's probably pretty much like moving from Sun's UNIX to HP's UNIX at some time in the 90s.
- jrepinc 4y agoWell there is big change, going from one of the most closed and totalitarian systems to a free/libre and open system. One of the most important and meaningful changes one can do.
- simonblack 4y agoNot really, the underlying structure of MacOS is BSD, which is also pretty much a free/libre system. It's the Apple GUI on top that's 'one of the most closed and totalitarian systems'. I've often suggested to the Softies that they 'do an Apple' and have the underlying structure of Windows be Linux, and just put the Windows GUI on top of that. They never listen. <grin>
