I mean, this is an adjacent topic yet the gravity of gpt4 and stuff completely sucks the air from here
- Rhapso 4y agoIt's interesting, when I was a teenager gtp would have been amazing (I cut my programming teeth on Markov model chatbots). As an adult who knows how the stack works, gtp is a letdown. Like chatting with a flatline construct in neuromancer, it could be useful to extract information from, but nobody is home and it doesn't excite me at all. This is an slow-boiling extension of invasive surveillance that is apparently just not a problem to most people. I think the real limits on it will be that brains are all scratch built works not the same or even well aligned beyond gross physical structures. I expect getting the mind reading model to generalize will be hard. I think the lesson from ai art, and prose and mind reading is that it provides any capacity we didn't have to start with, but that giving governments and corporations the ability to automate them at scale fundimentally changes the consequences and ethics of the situations.
