The score should be removed from the interface. Maybe it is useful for the first X points but beyond that it is weirdly distorting the experience. I had a floating video on top of the browser one time (covering up the right top of the page) and it was impressive how often I look at it without intend or being aware of it. It is only useful if you dive below X or lost Y points in the last Z comments so that you know your kung-fu sausage isn't awesome enough in the HN kook book.
