Every society has a "1 percent" that owns or controls resources far out of proportion to their numbers. The question is: how much power will they have to shape society as a whole? It is possible to create a more egalitarian society in which the 99 percent are still able to maintain a good and rising standard of living and an acceptable quality of life.
