- dang 4y agoPlease don't respond to a bad comment by breaking the site guidelines yourself. That only makes things worse. We've banned the other account, but it's not ok to break the site guidelines regardless of how someone else is behaving. If you'd please review https://news.ycombinator.com/newsguidelines.html https://news.ycombinator.com/newsguidelines.html and stick to the rules when posting here, we'd appreciate it.
- counttheforks 4y agoYou should clarify which site guidelines were broken. Just pointing at a bulleted list and handwaving "Dont break the rules!" is not very helpful. Thanks. Also, the word here is "guidelines". Maybe rename them to "rules" if you are going to enforce them? Reading through them, it seems you are breaking at least one of them yourself here: > Please don't post shallow dismissals, especially of other people's work. A good critical comment teaches us something.
- dang 4y ago"Sure, you can reinvent the wheel. Have fun." breaks the rules "edit out swipes" and "don't be snarky", for starters. Your comment would have been fine without those bits. You also broke "Don't feed egregious comments by replying; flag them instead." (I don't see "guidelines" and "rules" as different enough to justify changing a name that's been around for 15+ years. I use both terms.)
