It's not true that there is no longer anyone working on AI ethics at Microsoft as I understand it. Rather, Microsoft had more than one team working on AI safety and dismantled one of them. There is still a large "Office of Responsible AI". It seems like internal reorganization but was reported as an abandonment of AI safety.
