Even 1:1000 is pretty high odds in general. But that link is quite cool. Also 4.23 Mt isnt a huge impact. Definitely not dinosaur killer right?

- antognini 4y agoIt's about 10 times larger than the meteor that fell over Russia a few years back (the Chelyabinsk meteor [1]), so not too big in the grand scheme of things. It would not really have any major effects unless it hit near a populated area, which is very unlikely. If it did impact the Earth it would probably hit the Pacific ocean.
- T-A 4y ago> 4.23 Mt isnt a huge impact Hiroshima was 15 kt, 4.23 Mt is 282x that. Fortunately this thing is small enough that it would burst at high altitude and only do minor damage on the ground: https://impact.ese.ic.ac.uk/ImpactEarth/cgi-bin/crater.cgi?dist=0.0001&diam=50&pdens=2300&pdens_select=0&vel=15.43&theta=45&tdens=2500&tdens_select=0 https://impact.ese.ic.ac.uk/ImpactEarth/cgi-bin/crater.cgi?d...
- kjs3 4y agoNot a dinosaur killer, no. But you probably wouldn't want it to come in over where you live.
